Bureau Analyzer: How CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF Reports Differ
Published 13 October 2026 · 6 min read · Clean EMI Editorial
India has four credit bureaus: CIBIL (TransUnion), Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark. A bureau analyzer reads the report from whichever one you use. The reports look different, and your score can differ between them. Here is what to expect and how to use more than one.

Four bureaus, one purpose
Lenders report your loan and card behaviour to the credit bureaus, and each bureau builds its own report and score from the data it receives. All four report on the familiar 300-900 scale, but each uses its own method, so the same person can see different numbers.
Why your scores can differ
- Not every lender reports to every bureau, so the data sets are not identical.
- Reporting dates differ, so one bureau may show an update before another.
- Each bureau uses its own scoring model.
A gap of some points between bureaus is not unusual. A large gap is worth investigating, because it can mean an account is missing or wrong on one report.
Which bureau does my lender use?
Lenders choose which bureau or bureaus to check, and many PSU banks look at CIBIL first. Because you cannot always know, it helps to check your report from more than one bureau before a major loan. Our guide on how to check your CIBIL report covers the most common starting point.
How a bureau analyzer reads each report
The report layouts differ, so a good bureau analyzer detects which bureau issued the file and reads it accordingly. The Clean EMI analyzer does this for CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark PDFs. Download the original PDF rather than a screenshot for the most accurate reading.
Using the findings
If two reports disagree on an account, raise the difference with the bureau that has the error. Before a home loan with a bank such as Union Bank of India, make sure every report shows the same picture.

Why is my Experian score different from my CIBIL score?
