Equifax Credit Report Analyzer: How to Read Your Equifax Report
Published 13 October 2026 · 5 min read · Clean EMI Editorial
Equifax India is one of the four licensed credit information bureaus under the Reserve Bank of India. Its credit report contains your score, a list of credit accounts with payment history, enquiries and any adverse remarks — structured differently from a CIBIL report but carrying the same core information. An Equifax credit report analyzer reads the PDF you download from equifax.co.in and translates the layout and codes into findings a loan applicant can act on.

How Equifax India's credit report is structured
An Equifax India credit report includes:
- Equifax Credit Score (ECS): A score on a 1–999 scale (not 300–900 like CIBIL). A score above 750 on Equifax is typically considered strong by lenders who use the Equifax score.
- Personal information summary: PAN, date of birth, address and contact data as reported by member lenders.
- Account summary: Total accounts, open accounts, secured vs unsecured, and total outstanding balance.
- Account detail: Each credit account with the lender name, account type, sanctioned amount, current balance, ownership type (individual / joint / guarantor), date opened, and a month-by-month payment record.
- Enquiry history: Every hard pull in the last 24 months.
Payment codes in an Equifax report
Equifax India uses a numeric payment status code in the account detail. Common codes:
- 000 / 00: On time — paid within the due date.
- XXX: Not applicable (no balance in that month).
- 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180: Days past due — the number of days the payment was overdue.
- DLS: Doubtful loss status.
- WO / WD: Written-off / write-down.
An Equifax credit report analyzer reads these codes automatically so you do not have to decode each account row manually.
Key differences between an Equifax and a CIBIL report
The two reports cover the same underlying accounts — because lenders report to all four bureaus — but differ in layout and score scale:
- Equifax uses a 1–999 scale; CIBIL uses 300–900.
- Equifax groups accounts by secured and unsecured; CIBIL shows a flat list ordered by account type.
- The payment codes use slightly different shorthand in some editions.
When you apply for a home loan through a PSU bank such as Canara Bank, the bank may pull your CIBIL report, your Equifax report, or both, depending on its policy and the loan ticket size. Checking all four bureau reports before applying removes surprises.
How to use the Clean EMI analyzer with your Equifax PDF
Download your full Equifax report PDF from equifax.co.in (not a screenshot). Upload it to the free credit analyzer on this site — it detects the bureau format automatically and reads the Equifax layout. The output covers your score band, open accounts with any overdue amounts, utilisation across cards, hard enquiries in the last 6 and 12 months, and an indicative loan eligibility estimate based on your income and bureau profile.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Equifax credit score the same as the CIBIL score?
No. Equifax and CIBIL are separate bureaus with their own score models. Both use data reported by lenders, so the underlying account information is similar, but the scale and formula differ — Equifax uses 1–999, CIBIL uses 300–900.
Does the Clean EMI analyzer read Equifax reports?
Yes. It reads original PDFs from all four licensed Indian bureaus — CIBIL, Experian, Equifax and CRIF High Mark — and detects the bureau automatically.
Which bureau report should I check before applying for a PSU bank loan?
Checking all four is ideal, because different lenders pull from different bureaus. At a minimum, check CIBIL, since most PSU banks use it. The Clean EMI analyzer accepts all four formats.
How do I get my Equifax credit report for free?
Equifax India is required by RBI to provide one free report per year. Visit equifax.co.in, complete identity verification with Aadhaar OTP, and download the PDF.
