CRIF High Mark Report Analysis: What Your CRIF Report Shows

Published 13 October 2026 · 5 min read · Clean EMI Editorial

CRIF High Mark is the fourth RBI-licensed credit information bureau in India, alongside CIBIL, Experian and Equifax. It is used widely for MSME loans, microfinance and by a growing number of retail lenders. If a lender pulls your CRIF report, understanding its structure and what a CRIF High Mark report analysis covers helps you approach any loan application prepared.

Part of the Home Loan guide series.

Structure of a CRIF High Mark credit report

A CRIF High Mark report contains:

  • CRIF Hi-Mark Score: Scored on a 300–900 scale, similar to CIBIL. Scores above 700 are generally treated as acceptable by lenders who use CRIF.
  • Personal details summary: PAN, Aadhaar (last four digits), addresses and employer as reported by member lenders.
  • Account summary panel: Number of accounts, total outstanding, overdue amounts and any DPD flags.
  • Account-level detail: Each credit facility with lender, account type, sanctioned amount, current outstanding, ownership, date of account opening, loan repayment tenure, and a payment history grid with month-wise DPD codes.
  • Enquiry section: All credit enquiries in the last 24 months with lender name, date and purpose (home loan, car loan, etc.).

CRIF payment history codes to know

CRIF uses Days Past Due (DPD) codes in the payment grid:

  • 000: Paid on time.
  • STD: Standard account — performing.
  • SMA: Special Mention Account — starting to slip (30–89 days).
  • NPA: Non-Performing Asset — seriously overdue (90+ days).
  • SUB: Sub-standard.
  • DBT: Doubtful.
  • LOSS: Written to loss.

Any code beyond STD is a risk flag. An NPA or LOSS code from even a few years ago remains visible and will affect approval decisions at most lenders, including PSU banks such as Bank of Baroda.

How to analyze a CRIF report before a loan

  1. Download your CRIF report PDF from crifhighmark.com using Aadhaar OTP verification.
  2. Upload it to the Clean EMI credit analyzer — it reads CRIF format automatically.
  3. Check the account summary for any overdue amounts (even small ones matter).
  4. Review the payment history grid for each open account. An NPA code in any month will appear even if the account is now current.
  5. Count hard enquiries in the last 6 months. More than 4–5 in a short window can concern underwriters.

CRIF vs CIBIL: when does it matter which bureau is pulled?

Most large PSU banks primarily use CIBIL. However, for MSME loans, microfinance, or when a lender wants a second opinion, CRIF High Mark is commonly pulled. If you are applying for a business loan routed through this portal, it is worth checking your CRIF report in addition to your CIBIL report, since an overdue microfinance account or an MSME facility visible only on CRIF could surface during underwriting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does CRIF High Mark score work the same way as CIBIL?

Both use a 300–900 scale and similar underlying account data, but the scoring model differs. A score of 700 on CRIF and 700 on CIBIL are in the same band but are produced by separate algorithms.

How do I get my CRIF High Mark report?

Visit crifhighmark.com, complete identity verification with Aadhaar OTP, and download the PDF report. One free report is available per year under RBI mandate.

Is CRIF used for home loans?

Some private lenders and co-operative banks use CRIF. Most large PSU banks on this portal primarily use CIBIL, though individual banks may also check CRIF as a secondary source on large-ticket files.

Can Clean EMI analyze a CRIF report?

Yes. The Clean EMI credit analyzer reads PDFs from all four Indian bureaus, including CRIF High Mark, and detects the format automatically.
